I wanted to write
a poem
with no politics
I wished to write
a poem
with no love
tricks
I had to write a
poem
lacking rhyming
tactics
but life
distracted
society infected
emotions were
reflected
the pen detected
the story was hectic
measures had to
be drastic
Kidnap the paper
and rape it.
Here’s the truth:
Fake education
keeps us ignorant,
ask the star of
Pandor
if you grant
Grant a grant
granted he’ll
remain lazy,
ask Skweyiya
besides, how can
we not maintain
Mboweni’s belly with
fancy grain?
Here’s the truth
again:
As this pen goes
insane
& ink begins
to rain
from clouds of
pain
forming an acidic
chain
the heart pumping
in vain
attempting to
refrain
from veins
gaining pain,
a broken heart is
such a shame.
A frozen soul
just as lame.
Truth be sold.
